Senior Director Corporate Communications (Editorial)

This role will be responsible for leading a measurable editorial content strategy for internal audiences that drives engagement, strengthens corporate reputation and enhances our people-powered company — putting associates the center of our storytelling and amplifying our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. Individual has a skilled journalistic mindset - capable of finding the story and capturing the hearts and minds of audiences across multimedia channels. Key responsibilities include building a productive, trusting relationship with cross-functional leaders while providing thoughtful, strategic communications counsel and support. Core to this role is owning a content strategy that inspires and celebrates our inclusive culture, amplifies our collective intelligence and demonstrates our leadership in the marketplace. Key tasks will include developing a clear, proactive editorial calendar featuring content that informs, inspires and engages key stakeholders, including associates, as well as clients/customers. This role will lead storytelling strategies that amplify the core elements of our corporate culture, our differentiated capabilities across the enterprise and the expertise of our talented associates.

Major Duties

  • Serve as editor-in-chief of corporate intranet, newsletters and emerging digital platforms while managing a streamlined flow and cadence of news/storytelling across the business

  • Manage integration and alignment across corporate functions, Business Units and geographies to ensure unified content development and cohesive storytelling

  • Drive a cohesive corporate narrative through communications initiatives that are always meaningful, memorable and actionable while influencing lead generation, customer acquisition and sales.

  • Aggregate and recommend content ideas for Town Halls, business unit meetings and Leadership platforms

  • Lead the measurement of corporate storytelling and own a data-driven approach to editorial strategy

  • Lead development of human-centered storytelling across multimedia platforms and published across existing and emerging communications channels

  • Develop and manage editorial calendar (in coordination with broader communications team) ensuring we're communicating the right message, at the right time across the right platforms.

  • Partner in amplifying a clear narrative that demonstrates the power of diversity, equity and inclusion in strengthening culture and achieving and sustaining superior business results.

The salary range for this role is $155,000-$180,000

The Company is one of North America’s leading sales and marketing agencies specializing in outsourced sales, merchandising, category management and marketing services to manufacturers, suppliers and producers of food products and consumer packaged goods. The Company services a variety of trade channels including grocery, mass merchandise, specialty, convenience, drug, dollar, club, hardware, consumer electronics and home centers. We bridge the gap between manufacturers and retailers, providing consumers access to the best products available in the marketplace today.

Position Summary

The Sr Director Corporate Communications will lead all strategic level communications for the Company including key positioning messages, corporate/organizational messages to employees, retailers, vendors, press, drive the verbal and visual communication strategy across all marketing touch points (print and digital advertising, website, tradeshow communication and other marketing materials).

This associate will need to build strong relationships internally and externally to develop and hone communications.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of communications, news articles, marketing materials, print publications, videos and websites for large internal and external audiences

• Oversee development and better utilization of communication mediums throughout the company to ensure break-through of messages and ultimate value to the end receiver

• Oversee communications throughout the company

• Overhaul and streamline content on company intranet and print communications

• Serve as key point person on executive and board level communications, including writing speeches and letters

  • Hires, retains, trains, coaches, guides, directs, and develops direct reports using company-wide processes, tools and resources

  • This position does not have guidance or mentoring responsibilities for indirect reports

Minimum Qualifications The following are the minimum job-related qualifications which an individual needs in order to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the job

Education Level: Bachelor's Degree

Field of Study/Area of Experience: Communications, Journalism or related field or equivalent experience

  • 10+ years of experience in corporate communications, media or similar setting with an emphasis in human resources

-Experience managing web sites/content

-Experience managing print communications

-Experience marketing/communicating in alternative mediums (social media)

-Executive level interface

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

• Strategic thinker with the ability to cultivate relations at all levels of the company

• Sensitivity to company politics and cross-functional interdependencies

• Excellent written communication and verbal communication skills

• Ability to complete multiple duties with accuracy shifting from one to another with frequent interruptions and competing deadlines

• Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, SharePoint and web-browsers

• Flexible and adaptable, able to change and alter according to changes in projects or business environment

• Good interpersonal skills

Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Typically requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time (66%+ each day), ability to hear the telephone, ability to enter data on a computer and may also require the ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
