Chief Information Officer

The CIO will collaborate closely with multiple business unit leaders across the organization to establish the strategy and articulate the data and technology vision to enable the company’s objectives. Given the growth strategy, the focus will be to ensure a robust digital foundation while piloting innovations. As the foundation becomes more solid, the innovation focus will increase over time. This leader is responsible for an IT team of 200+ employees plus outsourced talent similar in scale.
Specific responsibilities include technology strategy and planning, enterprise architecture, enterprise infrastructure and IT operations, enterprise data, vendor management, and quality. Working closely with business leaders, the CIO will ensure close alignment between the company’s strategic business goals and technology design principles and solutions.

Prior experience in senior-level information technology roles, including strategic planning and execution
Current or previous IS&T leadership in a large-scale, publicly held organization
Ability to nurture a smooth, cohesive IT transition amid business merger and acquisition activity
Experience leading governance, risk, and compliance teams related to internal IT controls
Collaboration to inspire trust in others through compelling influence, presence and passion, with a strong bias for action and history of delivering outstanding results
Passion for re-engineering legacy IT environments, with a keen eye on forward-looking, innovative future state plans
Excitement about moving traditional on-prem environments to SaaS or other progressive models, with demonstrated success in prior roles

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) is responsible for directing all Information Technology (IT) functions by integrating business and technology to identify high value add solutions, cultivating the IT organization into a center of excellence, and delivering projects and service levels on budget. Accountable for delivering revenue generating projects, focused on new application development, while also leading the day to day technical operations. This is a highly visible leadership role that will serve as a critical member of the executive management team.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Serve as a thought leader by developing a vision and roadmaps for information technology
Identify emerging technologies to be assimilated, integrated, and introduced within the company
Optimize the combination of 3 rd party vs. home grown solutions and lead vendor selections
Proactively work with other teams to communicate and foster adoption of the longer term vision
Develop and maintain product roadmaps for core applications outlining key functionality roll-outs, release, upgrades, etc.
Lead the development of business critical applications based on enterprise priorities
Prepare IT objectives and budgets, including capital expense
Oversee the development, design, and implementation of new applications and changes to existing systems via appropriate methodologies
Grow the business intelligence and CRM functions to further entrench the team as indispensable insight drivers
Serve on Steering Committees to ensure efficient delivery
Review and approve major contracts for computing and IT services and equipment
Ensure the security and disaster recovery of information systems, communication lines and equipment
Develop information technology into a high performing/execution focused organization
Create organizational structure and governance model that emphasizes ROI positive projects while maintaining service levels for foundational systems
Design enterprise processes and a program management function to plan and execute major initiatives – from the establishment of business cases and multi-departmental sponsorship to technical design and tracking of measurable business outcomes
Hire, develop, and retain highly skilled teams of subject matter experts, including architects and project managers
Optimize costs of services through a mix of internal and external resources
Foster an accountable organization that over performs against expectations and has fun while doing so
Build strong relationships with internal customers and partners
Collaboratively work with global teams across all functions of the organization, including business strategy, operations, marketing, finance, and human resources, to fully understand their needs and how information technology can support them
Participate in executive strategy sessions to approve and prioritize efforts
Ensure teams effectively communicate with customers on key initiatives, including status, issues, etc.
Apply appropriate level of vendor management to maintain and foster relationships with strategic 3 rd party vendors.
Hires, retains, trains, coaches, guides, directs, and develops direct reports using company-wide processes, tools and resources
May delegate work of others and provide guidance, direction and mentoring to indirect reports

The following are the minimum job-related qualifications which an individual needs in order to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the job
(Required) Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
(Preferred) Master's Degree or equivalent experience
Field of Study/Area of Experience: Information Technology or Computer Science or equivalent job-related experience
10+ years of experience in a senior-level information technology position including strategic planning and execution
Prior Customer relationship management, reporting analytics, campaign management, order management ERP and mobile for consumer packaged goods (CPG) companies and/or mass merchant retail experience
Prior experience with Retail tools and applications, including CRM, Order Management, as well as general information technology computer systems and software
Prior experience with business intelligence environments supporting complex performance analysis and consumer insights a plus
